Introduction
Finding a job with a refugee background can be challenging. For example, because you have a small professional network, know little about the Dutch labor market or find it difficult to meet employers. To overcome these challenges, Microsoft and the Refugee Talent Hub are offering this mentoring program to you. There is limited space, so register quickly for the Microsoft Buddy Program!
What is the buddy program?
During the buddy program, you will receive guidance from a mentor from Microsoft for 3 months. Together, you will boost your professional development and find your way on the Dutch labor market. You will receive support from your mentor in multiple ways, including:
Setting career goals and formulating concrete next steps for your career;
Discovering what your talents / ambitions / competencies / skills / development points are;
Discovering which careers / jobs / sectors / companies / courses / trainings are a good fit for you;
Improving your CV / LinkedIn page / motivation letters to present yourself better on the Dutch labor market;
Practicing job interviews;
Enhancing networking skills and learning how to identify opportunities to grow your network
During the buddy program, your mentor will share their knowledge, skills, and professional network with you. On the other hand, your mentor can also learn a lot from you! In addition, you will learn more about the other mentors and mentees, work in general, and Microsoft in particular during the joint events and online check-ins.
What is the buddy program not?
The buddy program is not a full time training. You will talk to your mentor about once a week for the upcoming 3 months. During these meetings you will work on your professional development. In addition, your mentor will help you to find your way on the Dutch labor market. You will also talk to the organization and other mentors and mentees during the joint events and online check-ins. If you want to follow full-time training courses, you can, of course, search with your mentor for full-time training courses that suit you. The buddy program is not a job interview or guarantee of a job at Microsoft. However, the buddy program does increase your chances of finding a job on the Dutch labor market because it helps you increase your network, skills and knowledge about the Dutch labor market.

What do we expect from you?
You have a refugee background;
You would like to increase your chances on the labor market;
You are present during the online and live events (see Important dates);
From March on, you can meet once every week with your mentor, either in-person or online over the course of 3 months;
Must: your Dutch or English is at a sufficient level to participate in this buddy program;
You have sufficient IT knowledge
You are enthusiastic and motivated to get the most out of the buddy program;
You have access to a computer (with camera) and internet, which is necessary for video calls;
Important dates
Kick-off (live): 31st of March from 10 till 13 p.m. at Amsterdam
First check-in (online): Tuesday, 25th of April, from 15 till 16 p.m.
Second check-in (online): Tuesday 23rd of May from 15 till 16 p.m.
Closing event (live): 23rd of June from 10 till 12:30 p.m at Microsoft office (Amsterdam)
*The live meetings will take place at Boost (Amsterdam) & Microsoft office (Amsterdam) and travel expenses will be compensated.

Met een vluchtelingenachtergrond een baan vinden is niet altijd makkelijk. Bijvoorbeeld omdat je een klein netwerk hebt, weinig weet over werken in Nederland of weinig werkgevers ontmoet. Om het vinden van een baan makkelijker te maken, organiseren Microsoft en Refugee Talent Hub dit buddy programma voor jou. Er is beperkt plek, dus meld je snel aan voor het Microsoft Azure Academy buddy programma!
Wat is het buddy programma wel?
Tijdens het buddy programma krijg je voor 3 maanden support van een mentor van Microsoft. Samen met jouw mentor geef je jouw professionele ontwikkeling een boost en vind je jouw weg op de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt. Je mentor kan jou bijvoorbeeld ondersteunen bij de volgende onderwerpen:
Doelen stellen voor tijdens je carrière;
Ontdekken wat jouw ambities / talenten / competenties / skills / ontwikkelpunten zijn;
Ontdekken welke banen / sectoren / bedrijven / opleidingen / cursussen bij jou passen;
Een CV, motivatiebrief en LinkedIn-pagina maken om jezelf nóg beter te presenteren op de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt; Oefenen met sollicitatiegesprekken;
Oefenen met netwerken en leren hoe je je professionele netwerk kan laten groeien;
Tijdens het buddy programma deelt jouw mentor diens kennis, vaardigheden en professionele netwerk met je. Maar aan de andere kant kan jouw mentor natuurlijk ook veel van jou leren! Daarnaast leer je tijdens de gezamenlijke events en online check-ins meer over de andere mentees en mentoren, over werken in het algemeen en over Microsoft in het bijzonder.
Wat is het buddy programma niet?
Het buddy programma is geen full-time training. Je spreekt je mentor ongeveer één keer per week tijdens 3 maanden. Tijdens die meetings werken jullie aan jouw professionele ontwikkeling. Daarnaast helpt jouw mentor je om jouw weg te vinden op de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt. Daarnaast spreek je de organisatie en andere mentoren en mentees tijdens de gezamenlijke events en online check-ins. Als je fulltime trainingen wilt volgen, kun je wel samen met je mentor zoeken naar fulltime trainingen die bij jou passen. Het buddy programma is **geen baankans of garantie op een baan bij Microsoft. Het buddy programma vergroot wel je kans op een baan op de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt, omdat het je netwerk, skills en kennis van de Nederlandse arbeidsmarkt vergroot.

Wat verwachten we van jou?
Je hebt een vluchtelingenachtergrond;
Je zoekt naar een baan en wilt daarbij geholpen worden;
Je bent aanwezig bij de gezamenlijke online en live events (zie Belangrijke data);
Vanaf 31 maart 2023 kun je voor 3 maanden één keer in de week online of in het echt afspreken met je mentor;
Vereist: jouw Nederlands of Engels is op een voldoende niveau om deel te nemen aan dit buddy programma;
Jouw CV staat in onze database;
Je hebt voldoende IT-kennis
Je bent enthousiast en gemotiveerd om het maximale uit het buddy programma te halen;
Je hebt toegang tot een computer (met camera) en internet, wat nodig is voor videobellen.
