How we work

Here you can read how we bring employers and refugees closer together. We do this through knowledge sharing, tailored support, and our platform RefugeeWork.

We bring employers and refugees closer together, with paid employment as our goal.

We do this in several ways:

Knowledge sharing and inspiration

Over the past ten years, we have built up a wealth of knowledge and experience around working with newcomers. This helps us support organisations, and we are happy to share this information with any employer who wants to learn more about working with newcomers — whether for inspiration or to take action straight away. Explore our knowledge base

Drawing on our knowledge and experience, we also periodically run national campaigns aimed at shifting perceptions around refugees and work, such as Refugee LinkUp in 2023. For employers, we regularly organise employer sessions and an annual flagship event, where we go deeper and exchange ideas on a range of topics together.

Tailored support

Employers and refugees often never cross paths. Employers look for talent in places where people with a refugee background are not visible, and conversely, our candidates lack a relevant professional network in the Netherlands that could help them find their way to a job.

That is why, together with employers, we organise activities focused on personal connection: a great way for employers to get to know candidates personally and look beyond the CV. Our activities are tailored to what an employer wants to achieve — whether that is meeting new people, recruiting, developing, or retaining talent. This can take the form of networking events, workshops, skills-based sessions, recruitment programmes, pre-employment trajectories, and more. We also support employers with questions around topics such as internal buy-in, training pathways, recruitment, and retention.

RefugeeWork

RefugeeWork is our job board: the go-to place for employers and job-seeking refugees to find each other. Through RefugeeWork, we connect people and job opportunities at an individual level. And if you need support as an employer, we are happy to point you to various social organisations offering knowledge, training, and guidance. See what RefugeeWork can do for you

In 2024 we took over RefugeeWork, and throughout 2026 we are working hard on further developing the platform. We are doing this together with Greenberry, based on input from employers, social organisations, and newcomers.
